Tennis is very popular in the Golden Triangle with most resorts having on-site tennis courts complete with coaches (payable locally). It is also home to one of the largest tennis facilities in Portugal, The Vale de Lobo Tennis Academy. With 14 courts, of which ten are all-weather and four synthetic, as well as a mini-tennis and paddle tennis court, it attracts national and international tennis fixtures, including an annual ATP Seniors Tour competition, the Vale do Lobo Grand Champions Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and the Portuguese Ladies Open. The Tennis Academy runs a busy year-round programme of individual and group coaching, tournaments and social events, for members and holidaymakers. There are tennis packages available from the Tennis Academy that include unlimited playing, coaching and tennis tournaments.
The Jim Stewart Tennis academy utilizes as many as eleven courts in the greater Quinta do Lago area. Some Courses such as Vale dos Pinheiros, Pinus Ria and Quinta do Lago Country Club are used for coaching programs only while Vale Verde and the main 3 court complex at Vilar do Golf Roundabout are the hub for most academy and club activities. Vale Verde’s 2 courts are sand field syntethic grass while the vilar do Golf Location boasts 3 rebuilt and resurfaced blue and green color acrylic courts similar to the ones used at the US open in New York.
For a relaxing game of tennis, Dunas Douradas has two tennis courts which can be booked locally. Dunas Douradas also offers one to one coaching.
